The most recent enterprise spending intentions data for AWS was collected through ETR's proprietary TSIS (Technology Spending Intentions Survey) from 3/8/2019 - 4/12/2019 and was sourced from 696 CIOs and IT end users, which represent approximately $285B in annual IT spend. Further, of the 696 customers, 148 represent Fortune 500 organizations and 239 represent Global 2000 organizations.
In this report, ETR examines AWS' updated enterprise spend for 2019 by benchmarking the company's spend data against pervasive and upcoming vendors in the Cloud Computing / Managed Hosting, Analytics / B.I. / Big Data, Data Warehousing, Containers, ML / AI and Virtualization sectors. Further, within the Cloud Computing / Managed Hosting sector, ETR explores enterprise spending trends between Azure and AWS and determines whether Google Cloud Platform, Rackspace, IBM / SoftLayer and Oracle are gaining ground in 2019. Next, the report reviews key customer subsamples for AWS within the Cloud Computing / Managed Hosting sector and then provides CIO and IT Leadership commentary regarding AWS.
Next, within the Analytics and Data Warehousing sectors, ETR reviews the competitive landscape with a focus on competition with Oracle, Splunk, Tableau, IBM, Teradata, Hortonworks, MongoDB, MapR, Microsoft, SAP, Cloudera and other emerging vendors (ThoughtSpot, Datadog, etc). ETR then investigates the reasoning behind AWS’ traction in Analytics.
Lastly, ETR explores offerings in Containers, ML / AI and Virtualization (AWS Workspaces) and examines whether AWS will continue to accelerate its customer count in 2019.
