  • Along with negative CIO commentary, our data projects a challenging 2H20 for Cloudera.
  • Cloudera’s expected spend in 2021 is decelerating across all sectors and products, as Hortonworks also projects for very low spend in the new year.

Cloudera Tracking the Conversation -

  • [Cloudera and Hortonworks] don’t come up a whole lot. I think your perception of Hadoop is accurate. That’s also what I recall from the time. But now, together, in conversations, I haven’t been thinking a lot about them.

  • As data as a service becomes a commodity, similar to what happened with Hadoop, because I heard the same exact things about Cloudera and Hortonworks a couple years ago and I talk to people that are ripping that technology out. The question is, can they execute better than all these other competitors and provide value - added capabilities on top of their existing data - as - a - service technology that, quite frankly, will be a commodity in 2 to 3 years?
