2021 outlook

Large year-over-year declines in spend within simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry.

TOP TAKEAWAYS -

  • While expected adoption rates remain robust and spending intentions remain elevated among Mid & Small customers, a sharp decline in spend among Fortune 500/1000 and Global 1000/2000 organizations (particularly within Infrastructure Software) could lead to some challenges for Nutanix through the remainder of 2H20.
  • Spending intentions among all customers are weakening vs 2020 levels across all sectors we track the vendor: Infrastructure Software, Storage, and Virtualization; this deceleration is driven by fewer plans to increase spend & more flat / decrease responses and is most severe within Infrastructure Software (overall spend remains healthy within Storage and Virtualization).

  • And the second [virtualization tool we use] is Nutanix, so our backend infrastructure, the one we run in our own data center is built on Nutanix. And we also use Nutanix to do VDI. And for certain classes of users, we are expanding the use case for Nutanix to build our VDI and make it more - I think they have a new release coming out, which will make it much simpler to deploy and manage, especially for work from home populations. Our focus right now is to use the tools we already have. We haven’t explored AWS Workspace or any other tools specific, because we feel what we have today is sufficient for our needs.

  • I’m going to tell you we’re looking at Nutanix. Again, this one like many of the other technologies like the container creates a new operating model that we have to decide how we work with a shared organization and our department work there. I’d say the place where I’m uncertain right now is on the data backup. You had Commvault there. I kind of wonder all right, what’s going to happen when you’re going to have a hybrid model where stuff will be in the cloud, stuff would be on prem. And do you still need to do the backup the way you used to with or is there a better technology that allows you to be, I’ll call it backup - less. Because our storage is increasing. And you kind of wonder should our backup goes with that or is there another way? I still have those questions because I’m seeing more and more demands for storage. And the question is, should I use the cloud. And if I use the cloud, I use it for what? The cold storage or an active storage? And it’s really where my networking costs starts to kick in. We haven’t solved that one yet. It’s been a few years now trying to look at what’s the best model on this side. But that’s what I would leave you a thought as the backup is not obvious.
